The Big Lie and The Big Truth

The Big Lie and The Big Truth

The Big Lie is not that the last presidential election was stolen from Donald Trump. The Big Lie has been around since the inception of America. That the election was stolen from Trump is just one of its adjuncts – a current façade intended to protect the real lie.  Two other of its adjuncts were behind the Civil War – that states rights trump national rights and that black people are sub-human property.

This Big Lie began taking on greater weight with Ronald Reagan who was a master at its disguise.  He hid it behind two smaller lies.  One of these smaller lies was that the lower classes should be happy eating the scrapes from the upper class’s table – called Trickle Down Economics. The other one was that big government was bad and wasted taxpayer money – which really meant that big  government is bad because it makes laws that limit capitalists from bilking the public of its money. Both of these lies sought to justify the existence of modern Robber Barons.

These small disguising lies continue to work.  And the Big Lie they support continues to be a baseline message for Republicans currently running for public office.  Moreover, it is not being clearly countered by Democrats because they may also be hoodwinked by this Big Lie and not understand its absolute destructiveness to American democracy.  This is especially disconcerting when the current moment in American history is when it should be openly exposed.

Here is the Big Lie: The American Dream is all about personal economics and not about human relationships – it is about the individual citizen achieving their private economic goals and not about affirming the equal worth of the citizenry and working for the common good.  The Big Lie both economizes and privatizes democracy.

Here is the Big Truth:  If the citizenry were to actually affirm their equality of worth and work for the common good, such would have profound positive economic outcome for all Americans of every class.  Capitalism would become a tool that aids in the achievement of the common good. Real democracy will not do away with economic classes.  But it will equalize economic status to whatever extent such is possible in human relating.  It will do this because the ethics of equality of worth and the common good would drive the economy rather than the self-interest ethics of un-controlled capitalism in the hands of Robber Barons.

The vote that will be taken the 8th of November is really all about whether the American ship of state will be totally taken over by the Big Lie Robber Barons or retained by the Big Truth democrats.  It is as simple as that.  And on that simpleness lies the destiny of the nation.
